Maura endorsed by Democracy for America’s Boston Chapter
July 2005
On July 10th, the Boston Chapter of Democracy for America announced Maura Hennigan
as their endorsed candidate for Mayor. DFA’s stated mission is to support
participatory politics and fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates
at all levels of government, rebuilding the Democratic Party from the grassroots.
DFA was founded by Gov. Howard Dean, now the chairman of the Democratic National
Committee. It was the first time that the chapter endorsed a candidate for Mayor.
“The endorsement by DFA is an important step for our campaign,” said Campaign Manager
Mitch Kates. It is important for us to be recognized in this way by the local chapter
of a national-level organization. DFA stands for accountable and progressive
government, so clearly Maura Hennigan is a good fit.”
The Boston chapter of DFA will now be working to provide support to Maura’s
campaign for Mayor through volunteers and outreach efforts.
