Hennigan Campaign Picks Up Steam

As June drew to a close, the campaign to elect Maura Hennigan picked up steam and the
local media took notice.
Before the start of the holiday weekend, Hennigan held a press conference to unveil the first
of her plans for reforming the education system in Boston. Hennigan’s proposal to
implement an extended school day citywide when she is Mayor received broad coverage and
interest The proposal and announcement was on the front page of the Boston Globe’s City
and Region section and was featured in the Boston Herald, and was also heard on the
airwaves including NPR outlet WBUR.
Those media hits topped a week where Hennigan and her proposals were featured in more
than 10 print media hits and online.
In addition, stories about Hennigan and her campaign received featured placement on the
Boston Globe’s website, Boston.com throughout the week.
During the week of June 19th, Hennigan challenged Menino to a series of five debates. The
challenge was published in the Boston Globe, Boston Herald and local papers.
To date this month, the Hennigan campaign has grown its campaign financial resources by
more than 30 percent, thanks to donations from old and new supporters. Final receipts for
the month have yet to be reported.
“We got the ball rolling this month, we’re looking forward to rolling out our campaign plans
and platform in the coming months,“ Hennigan Campaign Manager Mitch Kates said. “This
campaign is just getting started.”
