Maura Hennigan Announces Five-Point Plan
For Office of Suffolk County Clerk of Courts

-- Plan Focuses on Court Administration Changes Needed to Improve the Public's Safety and Interaction with the Court System --

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA, August 24, 2006 -- Maura Hennigan, candidate for Suffolk County Clerk of Court (Criminal Division) of the Superior Court, today released details of a five-point plan she plans to implement upon assuming the office of Clerk Magistrate. The comprehensive plan addresses issues concerning administration of the court to promote greater public safety as well as key initiatives to communicate with citizens of Suffolk County.

Hennigan's proposal covers all areas of responsibility for the Clerk Magistrate, including: 1) proper handling of evidence; 2) timely docketing of case records; 3) centralizing the filing of case records; 4) improving public communication via the internet; and 5) re-energizing the Community Outreach division.

"As the only elected official in the Criminal Court system, I am committed to keeping the interests of the public my top priority in the administration of the court," stated Suffolk County Clerk of Court candidate, Maura Hennigan. "Upon assuming the County Clerk office, I will institute the changes outlined in my five-point plan to improve public safety and provide citizens with better access to the criminal court system."

Maura Hennigan served as City Councilor on Boston's City Council for over two decades where she made the safety of the community one of her pre-eminent concerns, as demonstrated by her seven-year tenure as chair of the Ways and Means Committee as well as her position as chair of the Committee for Public Safety. Ultimately, Hennigan plans to pull back the veil of mystery surrounding the criminal court system, easing the experience for citizens, and making it more transparent to the community while helping to reduce the impact of neighborhood crime.
